LALELA – UI Design, Web Design

  • UI design
  • Web design and development

Various partners in South Africa and LA jointly owned a large production music library. They brought me in to create their overall identity, and to design and develop a public facing website for individuals in the entertainment industry to browse, sample and license music for film, TV and media. I managed this project, worked on UX tasks and handled all the visual design.

A local Minneapolis developer was hired for the extensive work required to scrub their massive collection of data, import audio tracks, create various formats for sampling, catalogue associated meta-data, and all database work and back-end development.

My work included project management, creative direction, discovery, IA and content development. I worked with the team in an iterative process as I designed the UI and worked through the interaction design, as well as various ongoing UX tasks as we gathered feedback. I handled visual design for the entire site–layout, color palette, page content, custom icons and audio player–down to the smallest graphic elements in the UI and all page content. The only exceptions were 2 pieces of artwork they provided. The site went through several evolutions and redesigns. The images here reflect the version of the site that went live.
